If an outside party calls and says that they are trying to send us a fax, but the send fails, immediately check the following:

Note: it is difficult to back check a report of a failed fax. If you do this while the caller is faxing, you may catch problems on their end while they are occurring. More times than you would believe, the problem occurs on the caller's end of the fax. u If the failure is on our end, this helps to firmly establish that. Otherwise, if we are trying to look back at a past event, we struggle to track down evidence of where the problem occurred.


  • if possible, while they are on the phone, call our fax number from your cell phone. Listen whether a fax machine picks up.
  • if a fax answers your test call, tell the caller that. Ask them to double check what fax number they are dialing.
  • ask them to call the fax number from their own desk or cell phone. If they also get a fax tone, ask them if there could be problem with their fax line.
  • if they are willing, have them fax a different Holland Home fax number. This helps eliminate whether they have a problem sending faxes.
  • if these tests point to an issue with our system please gather the following information:
