VDI Users Only (does not work on Remote Desktop)

Setup and Use a Mitel Softphone

You can use a plug-in headset with Mitel Connect to make and receive calls through your computer. The phone system sees this computer installed phone as a normal extension on the system. Therefore, you can transfer calls, make conferences calls, and use all the features that are available on your phone in the office.

Requirements; some of these I.S. must do for you.

  1. You need speakers and a microphone. Most people use a headset to provide these.
  2. You need to confirm that the headset works.
  3. I.S. must enable soft phone on your extension. (I.S.: Find extension; click Telephony; check Enable use of soft phone.)

Once you meet these pre-requisites, you can connect your soft phone.

  1. On your VDI open Mitel Connect.
  2. The first time only, you have to configure Connect to use your headset. Click the down arrowhead next to the word Connect in the top banner.

  3. Settings will pop out to the right. See screen shot far right. Click Softphone.
  4.  At the top, make sure that Capture audio through is set to your computer's microphone and speaker devices. We might have to help you with this. Click the far right top horizontal line to close this.
  5.  At this point, a box might pop up that says 'do you want to allow Mitel traffic through your Windows Firewall'. Click Allow
  6.  Click on your name in Mitel Connect
  7.  The Primary Assignment feature will pop out. See screen shot below.
  8.  Now click on the Radio Button labeled Softphone.
  9.  Finally click the horizontal line at the far upper right to close this box.
  10.  You are ready to use your phone through your computer.
