Main Steps Described Below:

  1. First Check Internet
  2. For Meraki VPN Client, check if You Can Disconnect
  3. Also for Meraki, delete the Saved Password

1. Both VPN Clients: Check You Have Internet
For both VPN clients, your laptop must first be connected to the Internet. Please test this as follows:

Open Google Chrome. As shown below, go to the Google search home page.
Type something in the search box then press the Enter key. Does a list of results load? If not, then your laptop cannot get to the Internet. Your laptop first has to be on the Internet before the VPN will work.

2. Meraki VPN Client; Is Your Laptop 'Connected' Already?

Check if the Watchguard VPN is 'fake' connected.

  1. Click the Windows Start button.
  2. Click the Settings gear icon to go into Control Panel Settings.
  3. Click Network & Internet.

It might instead be called Network and Sharing Center

If it is, please call the Help Desk

4. Click the VPN menu.

5. Click the CLS Watchguard VPN. A menu will appear. If the first button says "Disconnect" click that.

6. Close all the Settings windows. Try to connect to the VPN again.

3. Meraki Says 'Cannot Connect'; Delete the Saved Password.
The good and bad thing about this VPN client is that it saves your password so it appears to just connect. However, if you recently had to change your password, it will fail and it seems like there is nothing you can do to fix it.

You can:
  1. First do steps 1 - 5 above. Do not do step # 6 and close that box.
  2. Click the Advanced Options button.
  3. Click the button called Clear sign-in info. This will delete your password.
  4. Now you can close this Control Panel box. Launch the Meraki VPN again. It will ask for your network password. Type in your correct, newer password and the Meraki VPN will both save that and connect.
